The San Francisco Gate has the scoop on some great holiday gifts for pets -- and it’s not just your typical dog-and-cat fare. (Not that we don’t love the typical dog-and-cat fare. Believe us, we do.)

Our favorite item? The Hamtrac, above, which allows your very smallest pets to run around in a safe and controlled (think Autopia, but smaller) environment. (Those hamster running-around balls are great, but they’re bad news for the hamster if they mistakenly rolls down a flight of stairs!)

We love this thing, and we don’t even have a hamster!
