Angels: No first-round pick if Guerrero signs elsewhere

Vladimir Guerrero is ranked as a Type B free agent in the annual Elias rankings issued this morning, meaning the Angels would NOT get a first-round pick as compensation if they offer him salary arbitration and he signs with another team.

Type A free agents can get the old team a first-round pick and a supplemental (between rounds) pick if the old team offers arbitration and the player signs elsewhere. Type B free agents warrant only a supplemental pick as compensation. Uranked free agents require no compensation.
