Angels left-handed reliever Scott Downs will start the season on the disabled list after suffering a fractured big left toe at home Sunday.
Acquired as a free agent this offseason, Downs was expected to be one of the team’s top relievers. He appeared in 67 games last season for the Toronto Blue Jays, going 5-5 with a 2.67 ERA.
