The Angels’ roster increased by four Thursday when the team reached down to triple-A Salt Lake to call up left-hander Horacio Ramirez, first baseman Efren Navarro, infielder Andrew Romine and outfielder Jeremy Moore for the finale of a four-game series with the Seattle Mariners.
And Manager Mike Scioscia says he won’t hesitate to use any of the four in the pennant race if the situation is right.
‘There’s going to be roles for everybody that comes up,’ he said. ‘They all are going to have opportunities to hopefully make our team deeper moving forward.’
Navarro is an exceptional defender, Scioscia said, while Romine gives the Angels added versatility in the infield and Moore ‘is a guy that’s just a raw talent that’s slowly putting his game together.’
Ramirez pitched out of the Angels’ bullpen in two stints earlier this season. ‘We’re seeing if they’re going to help us moving forward,’ Scioscia said. ‘There’s some things they’re going to bring. These guys are going to help us become deeper.’
