Woolridge leaves little doubt about his Mission League dominance

If Renaldo Woolridge‘s effort Wednesday night against Verbum Dei is any indication of what’s in store, let’s just say opponents had better be prepared for a heavy dose of frustration because the senior from Harvard-Westlake appears to be on top of his game this season.

The highly-touted prospect scored 32 points and added 14 rebounds in a 64-53 victory at home in a Mission League opener for both teams. As for the Eagles, there’s not a whole lot of time to think about what went wrong against the Wolverines, No. 15 in The Times’ preseason rankings. A rematch against Woolridge looms on Friday in Los Angeles. So much for regrouping.

Beyond that, three league tests are up next for Harvard-Westlake, Monday at Notre Dame, Wednesday against visiting Crespi, followed by another home game Friday against Chaminade. Knowing Woolridge is coming off his best game of the season, it’s reasonable to expect that the Wolverines’ rivals will put forth a more concerted effort to stop him.
