More on the Five Counties wrestling Saturday at Fountain Valley

With 22 of the top 27 wrestling teams in the state and all 10 of the top-ranked teams in the Southern Section on hand, there’s some jam-packed brackets at the Five Counties wrestling tournament at Fountain Valley this weekend.

Including ...

119 -- Thomas Williams of South Hills is top-ranked in the state and top-seeded this weekend. But four of the seven wrestlers ranked below him, including Marcus Orona of Santa Fe and Chad Thornock of San Jacinto, will challenge him for the Five Counties title.

125-140 -- Six of the top eight wrestlers in the state are expected in each weight class, including Angel Garcia of San Dimas, Ryan Giovenco of North Torrance and Daniel Horcasitas of King at 125; Daniel Gudino of Hesperia and Frank Martinez of Northview at 130; Vinny Pisani of El Modena and Andrew Collins of Hesperia at 135, and Cody Bollinger of Sultana and Mario Decaro of Temecula Valley at 140.

171 -- Jake Meredith of Temecula Valley, the No. 1 team in the Southern Section, is the top seed. Ian Daube of Poway, the No. 1 team in the state, is the No. 2 seed. Meredith is ranked first in the state; Daube is No. 3.
