Live blog: Thompson gives Valencia early lead over Hart

Tonight’s Foothill League game between Valencia and Hart is underway and Hart finds itself in the unfamiliar role of underdog. The defenses set the tone early. Both teams had to punt on their first possession.

Hart came up one yard short of a first down on its second possession and had to punt from deep in its own territory. A long return by Zack Tartbull set up an 18-yard touchdown run by Jordan Thompson to give host Valencia a quick 7-0.

The Vikings recovered a fumbled pitch on Hart’s third possession and are poised to score again inside the Indians’ 5-yard line as the second quarter begins.
