Baseball: Booth, Cardona lead ECR to victory

Michael Booth hit a two-run home run and a two-run double and sophomore right-hander Jose Cardona (4-0) struck out 11 and threw a three-hitter to help Woodland Hills El Camino Real defeat Woodland Hills Taft, 11-2, in a West Valley League game on Friday.
Travis Keppel and Alex DeLeon also hit home runs for the Conquistadores (9-4, 2-2).
In other West Valley League games, Chatsworth (12-1, 4-0) defeated Lake Balboa Birmingham, 13-2, with Andy Weissberg going four for four with four runs batted in.
Reseda Cleveland (10-2, 4-0) defeated Granada Hills, 5-4. Jeremy Stearn’s two-run single with one out in the bottom of the seventh drove in the tying and winning runs. Juan Perez went three for four and pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief to pick up the victory.
