Sophomore Lonzo Ball of Chino Hills is considered the No. 1 point guard prospect in Southern California for the class of 2016, and he put on a show Monday night in a first-round game of the Fairfax tournament.
He scored 26 points to help Chino Hills defeat Compton, 71-62.
Ball missed the final three games for Chino Hills last week in the Maranatha tournament, but he said after Monday’s game, ‘I’m back.’
Nnamdi Okongwu, a 6-foot-8 junior, added 11 of his 13 points in the second half to help stop a Compton comeback from a 14-point halftime deficit. Bishop Mency added 15 points.
Isaiah Bailey scored 17 points for Compton and Kyron Cartwright had 14.
Chino Hills advances to Wednesday’s 7 p.m. quarterfinals against El Camino Real.
