32-Acre Camarillo Industrial Park Receives City Approval

CAMARILLO — The development of a 32-acre industrial park in Camarillo has the approval of the city Planning Commission and City Council, and work has started on the first two buildings of the $50 million project undertaken by the Hewson Co., a Los Angeles-based real estate developer.

The project will include almost 800,000 square feet of office, research and manufacturing buildings. The 58,000- and 90,000-square-foot structures under construction should be completed by fall, according to the marketing agent, Grubb & Ellis.

The Camarillo Commerce Center, one of the largest in Ventura County, is located between Adolfo and Flynn roads, near U.S. 101, and should be completed in about four years. Plans include 20 one- and two-story structures suitable for high-tech manufacturing, as well as for warehousing and research and development.

Hewson is creating the center in a joint venture with Hillman Properties West Inc. of Los Angeles. Architectural design is provided by Hill Pinckert Architects of Thousand Oaks.
