The State : Ex-Consul General Seized

A former Guatemalan consul general was arrested in San Francisco on charges of smuggling illegal aliens into the country. Vicente Morales, 51, consul general in San Francisco from 1971 to 1984, was accused with three others of conspiring to bring an Iranian woman and her two children across the border from Mexico. He was released on a $10,000 personal appearance bond and was ordered to appear later this month before a U.S. magistrate. Arrested with him were Mahmoud Maghsoudi, 52, owner of a San Francisco travel agency; Maghsoudi’s wife, Vittoria, 32, and Fernando Alvarado, 30.
