Occidental Petroleum said a second well flowed at the rate of 14,777 barrels of oil a day, making it one of the largest oil discoveries ever in the region. The company has not yet released an estimate of the oil reserves thought to underlie the field. Occidental said production will initially be limited to about 10,000 barrels a day, the capacity of existing pipelines to the area, but that a new 30,000-barrel-a-day line should be completed by the end of the year. Occidental has a 45% interest in the field.
