California Land Title, the California branches of Lawyer’s Title, California World Title and Land Title have consolidated operations under the name Continental Land Title Co., according to Stephen F. Birch, Continental’s chairman.
The consolidation will result in the largest underwritten title company in the state and one of the largest in the nation, as measured by annual revenue, according to Birch.
Continental Land Title Co., the new firm, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lawyer’s Title Insurance Corp., Richmond, Va., and issues its policies.
Continental, based in Universal City, has 45 branch offices in California and Oregon, writing insurance covering real estate transactions totaling more than $17 billion, Birch added.
Jack Harris, formerly of California Land Title, will become vice president and manager of Orange County operations for Continental; Dennis McKim, also of California Land Title, will become vice president and manager of Los Angeles operations and Ed Zurwekh of California World Title will become vice president and manager of San Diego County offices, Birch said.
