Shultz May Expand Mideast Visit

WASHINGTON — Secretary of State George P. Shultz may follow his brief visit to Israel next month with other stops in the Middle East in a stepped-up U.S. peace effort, State Department officials said today.
While no Middle East stops beyond Shultz’s previously announced May 10 visit to Israel have been set, officials said the capitals of Jordan and Egypt would be “most likely.” A joint meeting with the Jordanian and Egyptian foreign ministers is also under consideration, they said.
