The United Steelworkers canceled contract talks.

Preliminary talks with Wheeling-Pittsburgh were canceled by the United Steelworkers in retaliation for the company’s decision to lobby employees for pay cuts. A union leader said contract talks would be broken off until next week when a U.S. Bankruptcy Court rules on the company’s petition to to reject its labor contract. Wheeling-Pittsburgh is in reorganization.
