Talks on a tentative contract aimed at ending a six-day janitors strike in San Francisco collapsed. A Service Employees International Union Local 87 representative said the San Francisco Contractors Assn. reneged on several key points during a marathon session in the office of Mayor Dianne Feinstein. Representatives of the contractors had no immediate comment. About 2,700 union members were on strike at 200 locations.
