The works of 12 artists have been purchased by the Santa Monica Arts Commission for the city’s new Art Bank.
The Art Bank program was established last year by the City Council to bring contemporary art into the community and to encourage emerging and established artists by acquiring their work.
The artists are David Garcia, Gilah Hirsch, Anne Marie Karlsen, Sunglee Suki Lee, Karry Marshall, Barry Mottishaw, Carol Neiman, Astrid Preston, Joyce Treiman, John White, Efram Wolff and Richard Wyatt. Also, Elizabeth Rude has donated a work by Emil Kose Jr.
The artworks will be on display through Sept. 7 at the Santa Monica Public Library and then will be on view at various public places throughout the city.
