30 Hurt in Oklahoma Fireworks Safety Show

PONCA CITY, Okla. — Authorities said Thursday that no charges will be filed in a freak explosion that injured 30 persons, mostly 4-H youths, during a demonstration by an expert explaining the dangers of fireworks.
“They don’t feel like there was any criminal action of any kind to warrant any type of charges,” Fire Chief James Bates said of investigators from the state fire marshal’s office. The explosion occurred in a camping area during a demonstration to about 100 persons Wednesday night. Most of them were 4-H Club members.
