A 3-day-old boy was snatched from a crib in his mother’s room at Long Beach Community Hospital by a woman dressed as a nurse who entered the room of Eufemia Martinez and removed him “under the pretext of taking it to see a doctor,” a police spokeswoman said. The child was described as having a light complexion, light brown hair and no visible birthmarks. He weighs 7 pounds, 10 1/2 ounces and is 20 inches long. The baby’s abductor, dressed in what appeared to be a nurse’s uniform, was described as 5 feet, 7 or 8 inches tall, 22 to 23 years old and heavyset. She has shoulder-length light brown hair worn in a ponytail, blue eyes and a clear complexion. The Long Beach Police Crime Stoppers detail offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the child and the arrest and conviction of the kidnaper. The phone number is (213) 491-LBPD.
