Micom Systems, a Simi Valley-based manufacturer of computer communications equipment, promoted its founder, William A. Norred, from president to chairman, succeeding John M. Thornton.
Thornton, chairman and chief executive of Wavetek, a San Diego-based test and measurement equipment firm, was named vice chairman of Micom.
Norred said he plans to move away from managing Micom’s daily operations and concentrate on such areas as product development.
Replacing Norred as president and chief executive is Roger L. Evans, previously Micom’s executive vice president. He joined the company in April, 1976, as vice president of marketing.
