The unit was purchased by an affiliate of United States Borax & Chemical Corp. of Los Angeles, a subsidiary of Rio Tinto-Zinc Corp. of London. The transaction was valued at about $80 million. Pennsylvania Glass Sand, headquartered in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., is a leading producer of silica and clay products used by the glass, chemical, oil and agricultural industries. ITT said the sale is another step in its asset redeployment program.
