Debtor Nation
When will we take our heads out of the sand and realize the true cause of our trade problems? The trade deficit is caused by the high value of the dollar, which is directly tied to the budget deficit. Expenditures must be cut and, more important, taxes must be raised before our manufacturing sector is destroyed completely.
What ever happened to our once proud nation? Why do we burden our children with billions of dollars in debt because we are too cheap to pay the piper ourselves?
For years the United States has demanded that Third World nations bite the bullet to bring their economies in line. Now that we are a debtor nation we should try a bit of our own medicine--for our benefit and for the generations to come.
