Los Alamitos : 2 Volunteers Sought for Sister City Panel

Los Alamitos, which began a Sister City partnership earlier this year with a Canadian city, is seeking two residents for seats on its Sister City Committee, which oversees various exchange programs.

Recreation supervisor Gail Silva said the nine-member committee is looking for two additional members who will work with the people of Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Programs might include pen pals for local schoolchildren, exchange of historical material and intergroup relations between Rotary clubs, Parent-Teacher Assn. groups and other local organizations, Silva said.

After four years of study, the committee finally chose Dawson Creek in February. The committee, Silva said, meets the second Tuesday of each month in the Los Alamitos Council Chambers. Anyone interested in the group can call Silva at (714) 827-9010.
