Los Angeles as a ‘Sanctuary’
Daniel Lungren speaks of undermining the integrity of the law with the declaration by the L.A. City Council of “Sanctuary.” I suggest that the Council’s action does precisely the opposite: It upholds the integrity of the law by demanding the the ‘law’ have integrity.
Hasn’t Lungren heard of the concept of civil disobedience? The City Council is risking its political neck to make a statement about a grossly unfair and politically motivated immigration policy. I applaud them!
Maybe the Lungren can induce Congress to make that comprehensive immigration-law reform of which he speaks. Let’s hope it is fair and just--so that Sanctuary need not be an issue.
