First-phase construction has been completed in the $15-million renovation of Airport Plaza, a 27-year-old, 17.3-acre retail center, including a 10,000-square-foot Big 5 Sporting Goods store and a 20,000-square-foot Miller’s Outpost.
When the final phase is completed in 1988--which will bring the total area to 215,000 square feet of retail space--the center is expected to generate 100 additional jobs to a total of 350 employees and increase the current annual payroll by 60%, to $4.7 million.
Real Property Resources Inc., of Torrance is the developer of the site at Crenshaw Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway adjacent to Torrance Municipal Airport.
