Two women were killed and three others injured early Sunday after an auto traveling the wrong way on a Pacoima street smashed into an oncoming car, Los Angeles police said.
The driver of the wrong-way car, Rigoberto Villalobos, 28, of Pacoima, was intoxicated, Officer Gary Heidrich said. He was arrested on two counts of vehicular manslaughter and was being treated Sunday for a broken leg in the hospital ward of County Jail.
Two women in Villalobos’ car were killed in the crash. Their identities were not released until their families could be notified.
The driver of the other car, Maricarmen Caceres, 18, of La Puente, suffered broken ribs and a broken leg and was transferred to Monterey Park Hospital. A passenger, Cesar Delgadillo, 17, of San Fernando, was treated for cuts and bruises at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, Heidrich said.
The crash occurred at about 1:55 a.m. on Paxton Street just east of Kewen Avenue, the officer said.
