Golden West Wins Swim Meet

Golden West College won a nine-team swimming pentathlon Saturday at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, edging San Diego Mesa by less than one second.
In the pentathlon, each competitor swims five events--the 50-yard freestyle, 50 butterfly, 50 breaststroke, 50 backstroke and 100 individual medley--and the combined times are totaled for the team scores.
The Rustlers won with a combined time of 13 minutes, 21.24 seconds. Mesa finished in 13:22.04, and Palomar was third in 13:46.23.
Marie Umnuss of Mesa won the individual title, followed by Lori Dickhute of Golden West and Kari Irvin of Saddleback.
