West Los Angeles : Group to Honor Hayden

Agudath Israel, an organization that lobbies on behalf of the strictly observant Orthodox segment of the Jewish community, has scheduled a dinner honoring Assemblyman Tom Hayden (D-Santa Monica) as “legislator of the year.”
The March 31 event will recognize Hayden for his “dedicated leadership and support” in connection with the passage of legislation intended to combat fraud in sale of kosher meat, to require alternate exam dates for students who observe the Sabbath and to ban what is seen as discrimination against those whose religion requires them not to work on the Sabbath.
