The 1,400 tickets to the Governors Ball (with toe-tapping music provided by the Joe Moshay Orchestra) sell for $350 apiece, or at least they do to those that pay. Spoerri said that approximately 60% of the tickets are given away. That means about 840 nominees, presenters, performers and “honored guests” will dine and dance gratis.
Each studio can buy the exact number of tickets to the Ball that it received for the awards. Others are invited by the academy governors.
