The American Civil Liberties Union sued the Commission on Pornography headed by Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese III, accusing the panel of violating federal law by withholding from the public drafts and working papers that will be used in preparing its final report. The U.S. District Court suit in Washington seeks to enjoin the commission from conducting any business until it agrees to release the documents.
