Pope Appoints Envoy for Eastern Europe

VATICAN CITY — Pope John Paul II on Saturday appointed Archbishop Francesco Colasuonno, the Vatican’s ambassador to Yugoslavia, as special roving envoy for Eastern Europe, the Vatican announced.
Colasuonno, a 61-year-old Italian, succeeds Archbishop Luigi Poggi.
