Santa Monica police and the California Highway Patrol said they have broken up a major auto insurance fraud ring, arresting nine people, including a chiropractor. Officials said the arrests ended a two-year investigation into a group that allegedly provided fake medical bills to support claims by people pretending to have been injured, and smashed cars that were later used in claims for hit-and-run accidents.
