The San Francisco 49ers withdrew a contract offer to veteran wide receiver Renaldo Nehemiah, making him a free agent.
Coach Bill Walsh said the demands of Nehemiah’s agent, Ron Stanko, were too high. According to Walsh, Stanko had asked for a $100,000 signing bonus, in addition to a high salary and high incentive clauses.
The 49er coach said, however, that if Nehemiah could not work out a deal with another team, he was welcome to try out with the 49ers.
