Anaheim police were searching late Thursday for a suspect in the attempted murder of a 27-year-old Anaheim man shot in the chest in a motel room, authorities said.
Police Sgt. Larry Kurtz said officers responded at 2:51 p.m. to a reported shooting at the Caravan Inn, where they found Guadalupe Diaz in Room 246 suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Diaz was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was reported in critical condition.
Witnesses at the motel on West Katella Avenue later told investigators that a man wearing a straw hat and a patch over one eye shot Diaz and fled before police arrived. The suspect was described as being between 25 and 30 years of age, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds and having brown hair.
