Presbyterian Hospital in New York has been accused of mishandling the case of a man alleged to have killed two people and wounded nine others in a slashing rampage aboard the Staten Island ferry. A report issued by the state Commission on Quality of Care for the Mentally Disabled said that although there was a vacancy, a resident psychiatrist at the hospital discharged Juan Gonzalez, 43, a homeless Cuban refugee. Gonzalez had been hospitalized July 3 after he was overheard saying Jesus told him to kill, but was released July 5, two days before he allegedly used a short sword in the attack.
