“New Wave Comedy.” Vestron. $59.95. A wonderful concept: Imagine bringing home eight comedy-club standouts and getting to watch them without coughing up the typical two-drink minimum! Unfortunately, in this case the producers didn’t do their homework. Excepting a brilliant puppeteer (Marc Weiner and the Weinerettes--the puppets break-dance!) and an all-too-short romp by Wayne Federman (“Purple Haze” on a ukelele with feedback), everyone else on the tape seems predictable and no more inspired than countless other comedy club regulars.
