“Gasoline in Your Eye.” Cabaret Voltaire. Sony. $29.95. Rather than the sting and shock the title suggests, the effect of this stimulating but stark 82 minutes is more like a steady grinding on the nerves. The English duo’s electro-dance music is uncompromisingly severe, and the visuals keep pace--cycling images so grainy or rapid that they become abstract, repeating flashes of fun stuff like eye surgery, shock treatment, sex parlors and riots. The highlight is the uncharacteristically accessible “Sensoria.” The other eight items might reward intensive concentration, but they don’t go out of their way to encourage it. 1/2
