Shultz Would Take Drug Test

Associated Press

Secretary of State George P. Shultz, who objected to taking a polygraph test, is willing to submit to the drug testing President Reagan has suggested for all federal employees in national security and other sensitive posts.

“He will take it; the department supports the President’s initiative against drugs,” spokesman Charles E. Redman said today. Shultz had registered vigorous objections to the lie detector procedure, but views drug testing as a much more reliable scientific tool, Redman said in response to questions.
