PITTSBURGH — A 3 1/2-week-old boy has become one of the nation’s youngest liver transplant patients after receiving a new organ at Children’s Hospital, officials said.
Michael Boggs, son of Mark and Joann Boggs of Osage, Wyo., left surgery early Sunday after a nine-hour operation, said hospital spokeswoman Judith Ketterer. He was listed in critical but stable condition.
The youngest liver transplant patient is believed to be Morgan Smith-Dennis of Olathe, Kan., who was 14 days old when he underwent surgery June 18 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
