“Pippin’s” run at the Pantages Theatre has been cut back in its playing dates, it was announced Wednesday.
The musical will still open Wednesday, as scheduled, but instead of running through Aug. 31, it will close Aug. 25 after eight performances.
Tapings for Vereen’s two TV series, “Zoobilee Zoo” and “You Write the Songs” were the reasons given for the cutback, but light advance sale for the show was understood to be another factor.
“This was a way to make everybody happy,” said a source close to the show in New York.
Exchanges or refunds for tickets can be made at “point of purchase,” the show’s management said. If the orders were placed via Teletron, a $2.75 service charge will not be refunded.
