USC Care-Line Assists Care-Givers

People who care at home for a patient suffering with Alzheimer’s disease can get information and support through USC’s Care-Line program.
Designed for people who are unable to get out to meetings, Care-Line offers telephone-accessed lectures by experts on Alzheimer’s and a six-month program of weekly telephone contact with other care-givers.
The lectures cover medical, legal and financial aspects of Alzheimer’s, respite care and care for problem behaviors.
The contacts with peers are guided by a workbook and exercises. Professional social workers screen the program participants and serve as consultants.
