A 10-year-old Oceanside girl was killed Tuesday when she was struck by a car while trying to cross the street, authorities said.
Carriee Fay Deaver and a friend were crossing Vandergrift Boulevard at East Parker Street at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and had apparently stopped in the road because of oncoming traffic, Oceanside police said.
Carriee was taken by Life Flight to Children’s Hospital, where she died of her injuries, police said.
The two were not in a marked crosswalk, said police, who are investigating.
