‘Back to the Test Ban’

Why must our Administration in Washington label automatically as propaganda every statement on arms limitation by Gorbachev? Can’t we at least take time to examine statements before proclaiming in a knee-jerk fashion that nothing of a peace-seeking nature can ever come out of Moscow?
It appears as if our government has a blind area wherever the nuclear threat is concerned and can’t realize that it is in Russia’s, ours and everyone’s national self-interest to understand that we must all take steps to avert the holocaust staring us in the face.
If we refuse to come to some means of dealing with the vast potential for destroying life on this planet, we jeopardize ourselves as well as our enemies. We are fast approaching the point of no return.
I refuse to believe that the human mind is incapable of working out a solution. But we must lift our heads out of the sand and stop conducting foreign affairs as if nuclear weapons had never been invented.
