FORMER ‘HILL STREET BLUES’ EXEC SUES MTM ENTERPRISES

Steven Bochco, co-creator and former executive producer of NBC’s “Hill Street Blues,” is suing MTM Enterprises for $20 million, alleging that the company failed to pay him $10 million owed him for the long-running police series.
MTM, which produces the series, has no comment on the suit, a spokeswoman for the company said Thursday. Attorneys for Bochco’s Bunky Productions Inc. filed the Superior Court lawsuit earlier this week.
Among other things, the petition alleges that MTM did not provide accurate accounting reports and improperly deducted a 15% overhead charge plus $15,000 per episode as a production fee for services not necessarily provided by MTM.
Bochco also seeks another $10 million in punitive damages and an accounting of revenues from the series, which began on NBC in January, 1981, and is starting its seventh season.
Bochco, now executive producer of NBC’s “L.A. Law” series, left “Hill Street Blues” and MTM at the end of the 1984-85 season.
