Two San Diego banks were robbed Monday, apparently by the same bandit. In each case the robber handed tellers a note demanding money but did not display a gun.
The first robbery took place shortly after noon at Imperial Bank, 7th Avenue and B Street. A red dye packet that had been placed in the money he been given exploded as the bandit ran from the bank. “He lost a lot of money,” police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
In the second robbery, a bandit matching the description of the Imperial Bank bandit handed a teller at Bell Savings & Loan, on Camino del Rio South, a note demanding money and fled with a large amount of cash.
In both robberies, the bandit fled the scene in a beige Lincoln.
