Peter Gabriel lacks the force and charisma of Springsteen (“Gabriel Crowns a Breakthrough Year,” by Richard Cromelin, Dec. 17)?
Has Hilburn’s Syndrome claimed another member of the Calendar staff? (Primary symptom: the delusion that Bruce Springsteen is a god, by which all other rock musicians fall short in comparison.)
In performance at the Forum, Gabriel’s integration of music, lighting and dramatics proved both unique and at times devastating, deserving far better than an apologetic review.
If Heaven is a place where every rocker is fashioned in the image of Bruce Springsteen, I’d much rather burn in Hell.
