KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Ivan Harris scored his only field goal with six seconds left in overtime Saturday to break a tie and lift USC to an 81-76 victory over Tennessee.
USC (5-5) overcame a 17-point halftime deficit and a 39-point outburst by Tony White of Tennessee (5-2).
Harris’ basket broke a 76-76 tie, and Trojan guard Rich Grande added a free throw after Tennessee was hit with a technical foul.
Derrick Dowell, who scored 30 points, made two more free throws before it was over.
Tennessee built a 45-28 halftime lead and led by as many as 19 points, but a dunk by Dowell with 11:42 left launched a 13-point burst that got the Trojans back into the game. USC caught up, 70-70, at the end of regulation time.
Center Rod Keller had 15 points and 6 rebounds for the Trojans, and Grande added 13 points.
Forward Dyron Nix added 21 points and 8 rebounds for Tennessee.
