A 7-month-old girl who underwent her fourth liver transplant in little more than a month showed slight improvement but her chances of survival were still 50-50, doctors said. Meghann LaRocco was showing improvement in the last 12 to 16 hours, “and that is encouraging,” said Dr. Christoff Broelsh, section chief of liver surgery at the University of Chicago Medical Center. The baby received her fourth liver transplant in a four-hour operation at Chicago’s Wyler Children’s Hospital after her third liver had swelled too large to fit her abdomen.
