SUPER BOWL XXI : NOTEBOOK

Giant fan Brian Jordan had a tougher time getting to the game than his team had winning it. “We left three hours late out of LaGuardia Airport Friday night and missed our connecting flight in Memphis,” said Jordan, 31, of the Bronx, N.Y. “We were encouraged to go instead to Dallas, so we ended up spending the night in a Dallas hotel after arriving at three in the morning. We got up early and caught a flight to Las Vegas, finally arriving in L.A. Saturday afternoon. We had paid our hotel room in Los Angeles in advance, so we lost our deposits for two rooms Friday night.
“But we were actually very lucky compared to some other people who never made it here at all. Loyalty, perseverance and dedication--those are the qualities of Giant fans. Just like marriage or any other commitment, you make a vow as a Giant fan. For better or for worse. And believe me, we’ve seen a lot of worse.”
