La Quinta Quarterback Derek Debbs Leads South All-Star Team Selections

La Quinta High School quarterback Derek Debbs, who completed 124 of 219 passes for 2,072 yards and 15 touchdowns, heads the list of selections for the South team in the 28th Orange County All-Star football game July 17 in Orange Coast College’s LeBard Stadium.
Other South team selections include Laguna Beach running back Jonathan Todd, the county’s second-leading rusher with 1,480 yards, and Mater Dei wide receiver Jim O’Brien, who led the county with 58 receptions.
Linebacker Scott Ross and All-American lineman Scott Spalding, both from El Toro, have decided to play in the Shrine All-Star game and will not participate.
Greg Shadid, who led Bolsa Grande to the Central Conference title, will coach the team. Linemen David Lannon and David Jenkins and linebacker Chris Matney will represent the Matadors on the team.
